Incorporated in 2000, AFR is a leading provider of Passive Optical Components, designed mainly for telecommunication, fiber laser, data center, autonomous vehicle, fiber sensor, bio-medical equipment applications. AFR specializes in high power handling fiber optic components and polarization maintaining components. AFR 1064nm high power components are capable of handling up to 500 W average, and 100 kW peak optical power for fiber laser applications. 

AFR PM components offer excellent optical performance, i.e., high extinction ratio and low insertion loss, and high reliability which become the key enabler of broadband optical networks, high-speed optical test equipments, laser gyroscope, and other PM optical systems.

AFR’s fiber optic components find a broad range of applicability from telecommunications to biomedical research. The drive towards smaller and minimally invasive medical instrumentation is fertile ground for the fiber optics components offered by AFR. Optical fiber serves as both the delivery and sensing systems for in vivo optical studies. The need for controlling optical power can be readily met with AFR’s new miniature manual variable attenuator. 
When polarization control is critical to the application, our miniature inline polarizers provide the performance necessary for high quality signal filtering. These tools and more are also finding their way into laboratories around the world in which research and diagnostics are being performed for biological detection and characterization. Sensor systems continue to become more compact and with reduced power requirements that are readily met with diode laser sources.
